TRP’s Associates Board Supports Students Through New Housing Assistance Fund

On September 7th, TRP’s Associates Board members, residents of the community, TRP supporters and staff came together for an Alebrije-themed walkathon to raise funds for a new Housing Assistance Fund, the La Casa Immediate Impact Fund. The newly launched Fund will support La Casa students going through a temporary economic challenge.

The family-friendly event featured glow-in-the-dark face paint, entertainment, and speakers such as first-generation college student and La Casa Resident Aide, Sara Galvan Orozco. Sara’s testimonial highlighted the impact La Casa has had on her life. La Casa has granted  her the opportunity to live affordably during her college years and gain valuable experience through TRP’s Career Internship Program (CIP). La Casa focuses on college access and completion for first-generation students through affordable housing, support services, and one-on-one assistance.

The event raised more than $3,000 and will benefit students like Sara. Thank you to the TRP Associates Board, walkathon attendees, volunteers, and donors for making the first-annual Noche de Alebrijes Walkathon a success! A special thank you to Spanish Public Radio, Bimbo Bakeries USA and Extreme Realty.

The TRP Associates Board is an enthusiastic group of dynamic professionals dedicated to supporting TRP’s mission to build healthier communities.
