Reflecting on 2019, a letter from CEO, Raul I. Raymundo

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Thank you for standing with our communities! With your support, TRP continued to help families and individuals reach their goals.

In 2019, we completed construction on Gads Hill Center’s new 18,000 square foot early learning facility in Brighton Park. The new location will serve up to 125 children and families in the neighborhood with the greatest need for Early Childhood Education services within the state of Illinois.

Through our ELLAS (En La Lucha a Sobrevivior or “In the Fight to Survive”) initiative, we educated 2,700 individuals on breast cancer prevention and treatment. The group was started to bridge the health gap for uninsured and undocumented women diagnosed with breast cancer and is organized by breast cancer survivors!

We continued to strive to keep families together and protect the rights of our immigrant community. We advocated for and won the Access to Justice Program and provided direct legal services, conducting 1,108 legal screenings.

We served 1,233 households through one-on-one financial and homeownership counseling and provided real estate services through TRP Realty, resulting in 50 clients purchasing homes. We deployed $541,125 in loan capital and saved 59 homes from foreclosure, preserving $7.3 million in wealth for homeowners.

We invested in quality, safe and affordable housing. We submitted a proposal to transform the northwest corner of 19th and Racine into 37 permanently affordable housing units and renovated Casa del Sol, the only Single Room Occupancy building in Pilsen to improve the quality of life for the 52 people who call it home.

We are grateful and excited to continue working with you on these important issues in 2020. Your support makes a big difference!
