Bank of America Provides Generous Grant to Impact Families

Since 1990, Bank of America has partnered with The Resurrection Project (TRP) to create healthy communities. The bank’s “more-than-dollars” commitment provides insight and expertise that over time has helped build TRP into a successful mission-driven social enterprise. Bank of America has provided generous philanthropic support since 2001, investing in numerous community development initiatives.
Bank of America recently awarded TRP a generous $75,000 grant to support the organization’s Community Wealth Building pillar, specifically, TRP’s Financial Wellness programs. Since 2001, Bank of America has allowed TRP to support more than 23,000 families to become financially independent and empowered.
Like Bank of America, TRP’s programs have a goal of creating positive change by advancing local communities. These programs offer financial education classes, homebuyer workshops, and one-on-one counseling. Class topics include financial products, budgeting, and credit building. With generous support from Bank of America, Financial Wellness can support individuals and families to create financial stability toward homeownership, home preservation, or stability in rental tenancy.
TRP also offers an integrated, nonprofit-owned real estate brokerage to help families achieve the dream of homeownership. Licensed real estate agents work with TRP financial coaches to ensure that families enter into an appropriate and affordable housing opportunity, procure a sustainable mortgage product, and access down payment/closing cost assistance programs. One-on-one foreclosure counseling provides clients with information about assistance programs, speaking with the lending institution, and how to avoid foreclosure rescue scams.
TRP is looking forward to broadening our partnership with Bank of America through the volunteer service committee of their award-winning employee resource group, HOLA (Hispanic/Latino Organization for Leadership and Advancement). During the upcoming academic year, Bank of America employees will volunteer at La Casa. La Casa is a first-of-its-kind community-based college dormitory and resource center that seeks to improve matriculation and college persistence for low-income, underrepresented students through college guidance services and affordable, supportive student housing.
Bank of America volunteers will educate TRP’s La Casa college students through ongoing professional development workshops. Workshop topics could include; managing a budget while in college and on limited income, identifying the best loan products to pay for college, or the FAFSA process.
