AT&T’s Believe ChicagoSM Helps TRP Affordable Housing Development, Casa Queretaro
On Thursday, August 15th, as part of its Believe ChicagoSM initiative, AT&T employee volunteers worked to landscape and beautify TRP’s Casa Querétaro. Believe ChicagoSM is an AT&T employee initiative designed to improve lives and lift 19 Chicago neighborhoods most impacted by gun violence and high unemployment.
The morning began with a brief introduction to TRP programs and initiatives before heading out to begin the beautification of Casa Querétaro, TRP’s most recent affordable housing development. Twenty-four volunteers spent three hours landscaping, weeding, planting, and laying 120 bags of mulch!
“We believe in Chicago. Our participation in this volunteer day is part of our Believe ChicagoSM initiative where we are committed to helping residents in 19 neighborhoods on the south and west sides of Chicago,” said Eileen Mitchell, AT&T Illinois President. “We are excited to provide support to The Resurrection Project in its college readiness and persistence efforts — and support the work they are doing to improve lives here in Chicago.”
Most recently, TRP received a $25,000 contribution from AT&T to support college access and persistence programs for first-generation college students through internship and mentorship opportunities, including providing low-income students with access to paid internships that will prepare them for employment post-graduation. We thank AT&T for their strong community commitment.
