TRP Families Celebrate Their Financial Achievements
by Diana Pando
Recently, The Resurrection Project (TRP) hosted its 3rd Annual Financial Achievement Celebration at the Cicero Community Center. TRP’s Financial Wellness team expressed their gratitude toward valued clients and thanked them for allowing TRP help them meet their financial goals.
TRP clients also took a moment to reflect on how their lives have changed since using TRP services.
“We lived in Albany Park and tried going through another organization to purchase our home but they never called us back,” said Ariana Tafa. “Recently, we worked with TRP staff who was so helpful finding us a home and we just closed on it today.”
“Thanks to Ana Flores, TRP Managing Broker, my son-in-law was able to purchase a beautiful new home,” reflected Vicky Chavez, a TRP client. “This inspired me to also take the TRP workshops and they helped me improve my credit score and now I plan on purchasing my first home later this year.”
“I purchased my first home through TRP 25 years ago,” noted Gloria Salgado. “I was on the brink of losing my home when I went through TRP’s foreclosure service and was able to save my home.”
The clients who shared their reflections on TRP’s services are just a few of the hundreds served throughout the year. Without these free services many individuals and families would not have the opportunity to achieve their dream of home ownership and some would lose their homes to foreclosure.
TRP’s Financial counselors and professionals provide free bilingual workshops on improving credit, managing money and assets, creating a budget, decreasing debt, and more to financially empower families. The three core services that Financial Wellness provides include Financial empowerment, home purchase, and foreclosure prevention services.
These services would not be possible without the generosity of TRP’s supporters, including: JPMorgan Chase, Citi Foundation, Polk Bros. Foundation, United Way of Metropolitan Chicago, Associated Bank, Bank of America, Chicago Community Trust, MB Financial, US Bank, Albert Pick, Jr. Fund, Fifth Third Bank, First Midwest Bank, The PrivateBank & Trust Company, and RWT Financial.
The festive evening also included delicious food served by TRP staff, and music by the Chicago Mariachi Project.
The work of TRP’s Financial Wellness team is vital to building healthy communities. This is just one of the reasons why TRP is committed to doing more in five years than in 25 years by increasing all of its programming and providing solutions to community problems.
