TRP, #IncreaseThePeace, and the Peace and Education Coalition’s Statement on the May 4th shooting of a law enforcement official in Back of the Yards

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, May 4, 2018 — We stand in solidarity with the law enforcement officials and specifically ATF in these tragic times and we pray for the speedy recovery of the wounded officer shot in Back of the Yards last night.

Similarly, we stand in solidarity with all members of the community that have been victims of gun violence. Whether it’s one of our youth or a member of the law enforcement community, the violence we have  witnessed is utterly unacceptable.

We send our prayers and thoughts to the families of the wounded officer and to all families that have suffered at the hands of senseless gun violence in our community.

We remain committed to increasing peace in our neighborhood and will continue to build relationships with anyone committed to stop the senseless violence in our neighborhood.
