Last night, Americans made clear that a government of the people, by the people, for the people remains the guiding principle of our democracy. Strong voter turnout reflected the issues affecting all our families, from the high cost of living to protecting our fundamental rights. The 2026 midterm elections remind us that democracy is not defined by a single election but by the collective voices of people working to shape the future of their communities.
Latinos, immigrants, and working families have faced extraordinary challenges, from threats to their safety and fundamental rights, to family separation, to rising housing costs and economic uncertainty. Through it all, our communities have demonstrated resilience, courage, and an unwavering commitment to building a better future.
At The Resurrection Project (TRP), we know that civic participation is only the beginning. The work continues beyond Election Day. We must continue empowering our communities to participate in the democratic process while ensuring that elected officials listen, engage, and remain accountable to the people they represent.
We remain committed to working alongside residents, elected officials, and community partners at every level of government to advance policies that protect immigrant families, preserve family unity, expand access to affordable housing, and strengthen economic opportunities. Long-term immigrants and DREAMers need legal pathways to further contribute to the greatness of this country.
Latino voices must not only be heard at the ballot box, but reflected in the policies, investments, and decisions that shape our communities. Meaningful progress requires both an engaged community and elected leaders willing to work together to deliver lasting solutions. Officials must recognize our contributions to the U.S. economy, its social fabric, and the political arena. Mass deportation abuses across this country must be redressed. Common sense immigration reform is not a just a moral issue; it’s an economic imperative to deal with affordability for all Americans.
TRP’s mission—to build community and champion justice so immigrants and families have the power to shape their future—relies on us all to show up consistently, both during and beyond election season. Together with our communities, we look forward to advancing policies that strengthen families, expand opportunities, and uphold the dignity of all people.
