La Casa Student Housing received another important accolade at the 19th Annual Chicago Neighborhood Development Awards hosted by the Local Initiatives Support Corporation. Our student housing complex, with its cutting-edge architectural design and innovative social mission, received the First Place Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Award for Architectural Excellence in Community Design.
TRP CEO Raul Raymundo and UrbanWorks Ltd. President Patricia Saldaña Natke accepted the award in front of over one thousand members of Chicago’s most important community development organizations and foundations. Raymundo reiterated the need for La Casa as a space where students could have an affordable home away from home that provided academic support and a conducive study environment.
According to the CNDA web site, La Casa Student Housing was named the First Place winner of this prestigious award “for its vision in designing a building that reflects the community and for its innovative design in meeting the needs for privacy and scholarship.”
“To know that our students—and by extension their families—have such a place that is beautiful and architecturally significant to live, learn, and thrive in is really special for us,” says Julio Guerrero, TRP Vice President of Resource Development and Marketing. “We are honored and thankful that the Chicago Neighborhood Development Awards selected La Casa Student Housing initiative to receive this prestigious award.”
