On Monday April 15th The Resurrection Project, World Business Chicago (WBC), Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, and Pilsen community members launched Seed Chicago, an exciting collaboration with the crowd-funding website Kickstarter that highlights local projects aimed at creating jobs and economic growth in Chicago’s neighborhoods.

Newly renovated NSP2 apartments in Back of the Yards

Some of our newest homes for rent in Back of the Yards. The Resurrection Projected invested $13.8 million in Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP2) dollars to acquire 40 foreclosed or vacant properties in Back of the Yards, and rehabilitate them into 75 units of quality, affordable housing.

So they packed up their things and immigrated to the United States to be closer to their children. Upon arrival, they invested their entire life savings in a down payment toward a house. As Lucila sits in her rocking chair, she tells of the countless memories their home holds for them and of how happy they are to have a place that echoes with the laughter of their grandchildren. “Now, we are content and at ease,” she says.
