The Intensifying Crisis: The Resurrection Project’s Call to Stand with Immigrants
CHICAGO, IL – June 20, 2025 – During the last few weeks, we have witnessed escalating federal enforcement targeting immigrant communities across our nation. From alarming ICE courthouse arrests to the militarization of public spaces, we are seeing a relentless assault that strikes at the heart of our shared humanity. In response, millions have risen up—marching, speaking out, and demanding an end to these inhumane tactics. These protests are more than a moment; they are a powerful movement rooted in dignity, justice, and an unshakable belief in due process and our democratic values.
Mass deportations is not just a policy—it’s a profound rupture in the American experience. It tears parents from their children, upends lives, and disrupts local economies. The trauma persists long after the headlines fade, leaving deep, lingering emotional scars. And yet, in the face of this cruelty, our communities continue to forge ahead with unparalleled resilience.
This resilience is powerfully exemplified every day when undocumented immigrants with U.S. born children continue to work, even with tremendous anxiety, to provide for their families. These individuals are pillars in our communities, attending faith institutions, paying taxes, and strengthening our economy and social fabric.
Despite the constant threat of deportation, the immigrant community and allies continue to advocate for others—organizing, leading, and envisioning a future where all individuals, regardless of their status, are treated with dignity.
Let us be clear: the attack on immigrants is an attack on the idea of America itself. No one should be detained or arrested without due process. It weakens our democracy, our values, and traditions. Locally, it weakens our schools, creates public health challenges, diminishes our local economies, and erodes the public trust essential for the community to thrive. We cannot build strong, healthy neighborhoods while actively targeting the very people who hold them together.
Every day, The Resurrection Project (TRP) stands on the frontlines—answering urgent questions from terrified families, connecting people to critical legal aid, and providing trusted resources.
We are at a defining moment. Will we live in fear, or will we fight for each other? At TRP we will not waver or be deterred; we will continue to work with immigrant communities and allies to actively build a future grounded in solidarity.
To those feeling isolated or afraid—know this: you are not alone.
Together, we fight. Together, we rise. Together, we build. Together, we vote!

About The Resurrection Project
The Resurrection Project (TRP) builds trusting relationships to educate and propel individuals, immigrants, and families to achieve their social and economic aspirations, stable homes, and equitable participation in their community. TRP is a leading provider of affordable housing, financial education, and immigration services on Chicago’s Southwest side.
During the past three decades TRP has worked to improve the lives of individuals and families by creating wealth, building assets, and engaging residents to be catalysts for change. Rooted in the Pilsen community, TRP’s impact now extends across the City of Chicago and through the State of Illinois; we are making steady progress towards leveraging and preserving more than $1 billion in community wealth in 2025.
