A MESSAGE FROM THE CEO
Hello friends, supporters, and community!
¡Bienvenidos! Welcome to the month of February, the month in which we celebrate love, unity, and Black history. Black History Month is an annual recognition of the history, achievements, and influence of the African American community. On February 14, I hope you can share a joyful moment with your loved one(s). This year’s celebration comes at a time when we celebrate those who paved the way for our communities and share motivational stories for future generations. However, there is still much work to be done as we witnessed the tragedy of 29-year-old Tyre Nichols in Memphis, Tennessee. We are again confronting urgent issues of systemic injustice, but our resolve will not be deterred. As a social impact organization, our commitment is to proactively and collaboratively build a community that welcomes all and embraces diversity through our work in partnership with other organizations. On January 27, TRP, with the West Side Justice Center, hosted its 3rd Annual Access to Justice Summit at Malcolm X College with more than 400 Black and Brown advocates to promote legal representation to our communities impacted by mass deportation and mass incarceration. The work continues beyond the 28 days of February. Bridging Black and Brown communities begins with learning about and from each other and creating UNITY that leads to social and economic justice for everyone!

Veronica now leads the Institutional Advancement (IA) division which is responsible for raising support through philanthropic gifts, marketing and communications, and impact and services of the organization. |

ACCESS TO JUSTICE SUMMIT 2023 More than 400 people gathered at Malcolm X College for the 3rd Annual Illinois Access to Justice Summit. Illinois Access to Justice (ILA2J) seeks to mitigate the devastating consequences of all forms of detention and incarceration and the resulting crippling effects on historically marginalized communities. Through a coalition of 76 organizations led by TRP and Westside Justice Center, we are expanding the network of holistic community-based legal services, including direct legal representation and mass legal literacy campaigns led by Community Navigators. WEB PROGRAM GRANT We are proud to announce that TRP has been awarded a City of Chicago WEB program grant. Through this grant, TRP and fellow grantees are breaking systemic barriers to accessing capital on the South and West sides through education, counseling, and financing Chicago’s co-op housing and business. SUPPORTING NEW MIGRANTSTRP’s Immigrant Justice team and volunteers helped receive more than 3,700 new migrants from Central and South America, primarily from Texas. TRP and the Illinois Latino Agenda (ILA) intend to provide a space for all working on the migrant crisis to provide updates, share consistent information, and collaborate.
