Chicago Faces New Threats to Immigrant Communities: The Resurrection Project Stands Ready
CHICAGO, IL – August 25, 2025 – In response to recent reports that the federal government is considering deploying the National Guard to Chicago, The Resurrection Project (TRP) reaffirms its commitment to protecting and serving immigrant communities across our city. The potential militarization of our streets only heightens the fear, uncertainty, and trauma already experienced by families and individuals who may feel targeted by federal enforcement.
It goes without saying that Chicago does not need to be militarized. The administration should focus on solutions our working families need instead of grandstanding to distract from the giveaways to the wealthy. At TRP, we believe in the power of peaceful civic engagement, and we urge everyone to act through our democratic process to build a more just and equitable society. This escalation is yet another example of policies that threaten the dignity and rights of immigrants, and we stand firmly against it.
We remain steadfast as a resource for our community. We urge all residents to rely on trusted organizations for accurate information and guidance. Panic and misinformation only make our communities more vulnerable. Our staff is ready to provide critical Know Your Rights information, connect families to legal resources, and support all those experiencing fear or uncertainty.
The immigrant community in Chicago continues to demonstrate extraordinary resilience—working, organizing, and advocating despite threats to our safety. TRP will continue to stand alongside them, ensuring that every person knows they are not alone.
We encourage all community members to stay informed, support one another, and take action where possible. Together, we will uphold our shared values of justice, solidarity, and democracy.

About The Resurrection Project
The Resurrection Project (TRP) builds trusting relationships to educate and propel individuals, immigrants, and families to achieve their social and economic aspirations, stable homes, and equitable participation in their community. TRP is a leading provider of affordable housing, financial education, and immigration services on Chicago’s Southwest side.
During the past three decades TRP has worked to improve the lives of individuals and families by creating wealth, building assets, and engaging residents to be catalysts for change. Rooted in the Pilsen community, TRP’s impact now extends across the City of Chicago and through the State of Illinois; we are making steady progress towards leveraging and preserving more than $1 billion in community wealth in 2025.
