This past November, The Resurrection Project (TRP) family hosted its first Fall Fiesta Event to spotlight La Casa’s Career Internship Program (CIP), and to provide a fun networking space that enriched our CIP interns. The event also brought together business leaders to learn more about the Career Internship Program and how it can impact their businesses.

The event took place at the East Bank Club and had a great turnout with an estimated attendance of 75 people, including key members of organizations that support the CIP program, such as Elemento L2, HACE, Deloitte LLP, PACO Collective, and JJR Marketing, among others.

Sarahi Pérez, one of our CIP Interns, gave the welcoming speech and talked about her experience with La Casa’s program, and how it has helped her, as well as other students, on a personal and professional level. Sarahi shared the joy she feels by being part of this program and personally thanked all of La Casa’s representatives present at the event.

“Students from different universities live and learn together in a supportive, affordable college dorm. Each year, about 85% of La Casa residents are first-generation college students and 9% are undocumented,” stated Sarahi.

Victor Hugo Lara, a third-year student at DePaul University and CIP intern at Elemento L2, also highlighted the fact that the program provided him with a housing scholarship that helped him focus on his studies.  “Unlike other internship programs, this one is a career track program that provides me with a stipend for the work I do. My goal is to become a math teacher,” said Victor, who’s already had teaching internships in classrooms and will continue to pursue his passion, and improving his math and finance skills, while teaching other students to pursue theirs, as well.

“We have the collective duty as minorities to support, invest, mentor and champion the next generation of professionals,” said Marco Lopez, Co-Founder of Elemento L2. “Elemento L2 chose TRP’s Career Internship program because it’s a no brainer. First of all, we want to help, and secondly, TRP makes it easy for any company to hire while taking a tax deduction. It’s a win-win!”

To continue raising awareness about the program, TRP will organize and host the Fall Fiesta event annually, to create a networking space in which interns will talk first-hand about their experience with the program and sponsors will be able to take advantage of the added value that it will bring to their business.
