TRP in the news again!
Dear friends and supporters,
The Resurrection Project (TRP) works to create healthy communities, and that work has been recognized in the media this week—including twice by the Tribune!
Yesterday, Mayor Emanuel and World Business Chicago launched Seed Chicago—Chicago’s first curated Kickstarter page that utilizes crowdfunding to grow businesses, catalyze community development projects, and create jobs in Chicago’s neighborhoods. In Pilsen, two projects are featured. The first is a local business—Tamale Spaceship food truck—seeking funds to establish a permanent restaurant location. The second neighborhood project featured is The Resurrection Project’s effort to establish a bi-monthly marketplace featuring cultural events and local businesses. On Monday, our work with the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA) and Proviso Township Mental Health Commission to acquire foreclosed homes and convert them into quality, affordable housing through the Neighborhood Stabilization Program was featured in the Chicago Tribune. We were proud to serve as both the housing developer and housing counseling agency in this initiative. You can read the article here.
Our community organizer, Eréndira Rendón, was also featured prominently in an article published in Monday in VíveloHoy. The article explains that the time is now for comprehensive immigration reform, and discusses some of the nationwide marches taking place this week in support of this important legislation. TRP continues to stand apart as a leading model. As always, TRP is grateful that it can continue its important work and thanks Illinois Housing Development Authority, Governor Quinn, Proviso Township, World Business Chicago, and Mayor Rahm Emanuel for supporting this work.
