The Business Interruption Grant (BIG) Program’s second round of relief will distribute $220 million to small businesses
CHICAGO – The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (ILDCEO), Illinois Business Immigration Coalition (IBIC), The Resurrection Project (TRP), Greater Auburn Gresham CDC, Chicago Urban League, and Acción hosted a webinar to help minority-owned small businesses apply for the second round of economic relief through the Business Interruption Grant Program (BIG). The Business Interruption Grant program is a $636 million program developed by Governor Pritzker and the Illinois General Assembly to provide economic relief for small businesses hit hardest by COVID-19. Funding may be used to help businesses with working capital expenses, including payroll costs; rent; utilities; and other operational costs. The second wave of funds will focus on: • Heavily Impacted Industries • Disproportionately Impacted Areas • Downstate Communities • Priority Businesses • Agriculture • And Grants and Loan Forgiveness for Illinois Small Business Emergency Loan recipients The webinar covered topics such as eligibility requirements, filling out the application, necessary documents needed to apply, timeline for application, common reasons applications are denied and a Q&A.
