Nueva Vida December 2013: The TRP Newsletter

A message from Raul Raymundo

Dear friends and supporters,
As we conclude another year, we can reflect on what we achieved together, what challenges we faced, and what we must do in 2014.
Throughout 2013, we continued to help people throughout our communities. We completed 75 units of affordable housing in Back of the Yards. Last month, we hosted a celebration for families who began rebuilding their financial health. Our Elev8 program at Orozco Academy scored new victories in helping Orozco become a model tier one school for our children. College students at La Casa continue to inspire us with their stories, their drive, and their eagerness to work alongside us. We helped continue a new yearly tradition that will stimulate economic and cultural growth in Pilsen.
We also faced numerous challenges, including our broken immigration laws. We remain committed to ensuring Congress passes comprehensive immigration reform, and we will continue the fight in 2014. Not just because of the socio-economic benefits to our nation, but because now, more than ever, we must be mindful that millions of families are being torn apart by our current laws.
The work we do is always a joint effort between TRP and its partners and supporters. We can’t do this without you. That’s why, in this edition, we’re introducing a new feature spotlighting our many allies. We’re also spotlighting one of our own staff, who has been at the front of our immigration reform efforts and whose personal story reminds us of its importance.
With 2014 right around the corner, TRP is ready to continue to create healthy communities with new programs, new projects, and a renewed sense of enthusiasm about all that we can achieve together.
On behalf of The Resurrection Project, I wish you all a healthy and safe holiday season.
Sincerely,
Raul Raymundo
