{"id":5632,"date":"2014-11-25T10:14:25","date_gmt":"2014-11-25T16:14:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/resurrectionproject.org\/?p=5632"},"modified":"2020-01-06T09:34:30","modified_gmt":"2020-01-06T09:34:30","slug":"city-chicago-trp-team-help-minority-business-owners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/resurrectionproject.org\/es\/city-chicago-trp-team-help-minority-business-owners\/","title":{"rendered":"The City of Chicago and TRP team up to help minority business owners"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>by Diana Pando<br \/>\nThe City of Chicago has selected The Resurrection Project (TRP) as one of three Capital Access Centers to help provide capital to small business owners and entrepreneurs in underserved neighborhoods.<\/p>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 5\">\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">This exciting announcement comes at a time when TRP is already working with small businesses to provide them with free workshops and counseling to help their operations grow. Small business owners and entrepreneurs help create jobs and stimulate local economies.That is why TRP and the City of Chicago have teamed up to improve access to capital in underserved communities. Accessing sufficient capital, including small business loans, is a key barrier many minority business owners and entrepreneurs face.<br \/>\nAccording to the Small Business Administration\u2019s Office of Advocacy, \u00abHispanic and black entrepreneurs tend to start their companies with less money than white entrepreneurs, and are also less likely to be approved for a business loan.\u00bb Data released by the Federal Reserve also indicates minority business owners pay interest rates 32 percent higher on business loans than white counterparts pay.<\/div>\n<div class=\"column\">As part of the new program, TRP will help entrepreneurs navigate the application process to competitive business loans.TRP will also provide capacity and access to opportunities for small business owners and entrepreneurs throughout the Chicagoland area.<br \/>\n\u201cWe are working with many lenders across the city and state of Illinois that all have different requirements,\u201d says Adrian Soto, TRP\u2019s Vice President of Economic Development.\u201cWe will refer a business to the source of capital that best fits their needs and qualifications.\u201d<br \/>\nThis new partnerships between TRP and the City of Chicago as a Capital Access Center will help jump-start many small businesses.<\/div>\n<div class=\"column\">\u201cOur goal in working with our communities on these efforts,\u201d says Soto,\u201cis to help them build assets and create wealth so they can contribute towards healthy communities.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><a title=\"Nueva Vida October 2014: The TRP Newsletter\" href=\"https:\/\/resurrectionproject.org\/nueva-vida-november-2014-trp-newsletter\">Return to Nueva Vida November 2014 here.<\/a><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>by Diana Pando The City of Chicago has selected The Resurrection Project (TRP) as one of three Capital Access Centers to help provide capital to small business owners and entrepreneurs in underserved neighborhoods.
