TRP is a leading provider of affordable housing, financial education, and immigration services on Chicago\u2019s Southwest side.<br><br>During the past three decades, TRP has worked to improve the lives of individuals and families by creating wealth, building assets, and engaging residents to be catalysts for change. Rooted in the Pilsen community, TRP\u2019s impact now extends across the City of Chicago and through the State of Illinois; we<br>are making steady progress towards leveraging and preserving more than $1 billion in community wealth by 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Department Description<br><\/strong>The goal of TRP\u2019s Immigrant Justice Department is to provide opportunities for authentic local<br>immigrant leadership, to offer holistic community-based immigration legal services, and to work in<br>coalitions to expand access to legal representation. The Immigrant Justice Legal Clinic offers direct legal services while engaging clients in advocacy and education, and provides resources for the community to prepare for changes in immigration policy.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>General Job Description<br><\/strong>TRP seeks a passionate and collaborative paralegal to support on removal cases, both detained and non-detained, on the Rapid Response team. The paralegal will support rapid response legal reps with: Managing the docket, preparing forms, motions, and evidence, filing, and working with clients and families to gather information, evidence and supporting documentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Job Duties and Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Direct Services, Removal Case Management, and Data Collection Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Provide professional and courteous service to clients and potential clients including answering and returning phone calls and emails, case preparation, and case follow-up<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Work with removal team legal representatives to prepare forms and evidentiary packets for detained and non-detained docket clients including filings for USCIS, EOIR, the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), and federal court<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Schedule and conduct calls with detained clients at ICE detention facilities throughout the country where TRP clients are detained<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assist with supporting documents collection, including but not limited to: from police departments, sheriff&#8217;s departments, family members, and treatment facilities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Work with attorneys\/DOJs and support services coordinator to develop release plans, recommend families for support services assistance, or connect families to bond fund assistance when appropriate<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain comprehensive up-to-date notes of client contact, indicating date, subject matter, and resolution in the client file, per TRP\u2019s Immigration Legal Services Program procedures, and notify client of all activity regarding their case in a timely manner<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Additional Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Maintain required job skills and core professional competencies;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain open and ongoing communication;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attend and participate in required educational programs and staff meetings; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Perform other duties as assigned.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Essential Knowledge and Skills<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as an immigration paralegal, handling primarily removal\/deportation defense cases<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>MUST BE BILINGUAL IN ENGLISH AND SPANISH<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience working with both detained and non-detained clients<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience working with detained clients strongly preferred<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to assist attorneys with management of court docket with limited supervision<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Familiarity with filing requirements for EOIR, BIA, and USCIS<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Familiarity with filing FOIAs \u2013 USCIS, DOJ, DOS, CBP, OBIM, FBI, EOIR<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to work independently<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to work well with people of diverse cultural, educational, and professional backgrounds<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Special Working Conditions and Demands<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On-site work schedule: As needed, and no less than 3 days per week.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Willingness to work flexible hours as needed;
