TRP's Parent Mentors travel to Springfield, IL to advocate for All Kids

Today, a bus full of TRP leaders headed to Springfield,IL to speak with legislators and get their support to pass $2 million dollars for the Parent Mentor Program. They were also there to support extending All Kids in the Senate Committee and legislation that will change the current school funding formula (IL ranks 49th in how education is funded), and to urge them to release HUD funds that will allow projects like Casa Heritage to continue.
Leaders also had the opportunity to speak with legislators about these issues above and were able to gain their support for these initiatives. In addition, they also had a meeting with the Lt. Governor Evelyn Sanguinetti, to introduce her to the Parent Mentor Program. They invited her to come to one of the participating schools. She happily agreed after hearing from America Carreon, who is one of the youngest leaders, about how much the program has helped her and her mom.
