TRP and IDLP break ground on new Instituto Heath Sciences Academy

Published: February 18, 2011
On February 18th 2011, The Resurrection Project, in partnership with Instituto Del Progreso Latino, broke ground on the construction of the Instituto Heath Sciences Academy.  The high school is addressing the profound shortage of Latinos and other urban youth in the health care field in Illinois and ensuring parents and students have a high-quality educational option that leads directly to the jobs of the future.
The construction of the Academy will spur economic development now and in the future. Supported in part by a $12 million dollar grant through the Illinois Job Now capital bill, the $22 million project, developed by The Resurrection Project for IDPL, will transform a 77,000 square foot warehouse at 2520 South Western Avenue into a 100,000 square foot, state of the art educational center by the fall of 2011. Governor of Illinois Patrick Quinn, US Senator Richard Durbin, State Senator Tony Munoz, State representative Edwin Acevedo and Alderman Daniel Solis we amongst the guests of honor and each took a moment to express the importance of this development in our communities.
