We promote community health through workshops, fairs, and special events all year round.
Health Workshops and Fairs
The Resurrection Project hosts free workshops all year round to help improve the physical health of our communities. These include: breast cancer prevention workshops, showing residents how to access affordable health care, and health advocacy fairs and workshops.

ELLAS (En La Lucha A Sobrevivir, or In the Fight to Survive)
“ELLAS” is a support group for women who have survived or are being treated for breast cancer. The group’s goal is to help these women normalize their lives and receive support throughout this very difficult experience. ELLAS was established by women in our neighborhoods who saw the need for a support group that understood the culture and needs of the Latino community.
ELLAS meets once a month to discuss breast cancer prevention in order to help educate other women in the community. The meeting also offers information on available classes, such as computer classes and leadership formation training, that can help participants in their daily and professional lives.
For more information about ELLAS, for dates on upcoming meetings, and for additional resources on breast cancer awareness and prevention, please call Araceli Lucio at 312-880-1888.
Resurrection Basketball League
We hold the Resurrection Basketball League every summer. It’s a street basketball tournament that takes place in different neighborhoods every Friday throughout the summer months. We encourage area youth and their friends to take part in sports and community events as a way to promote peace in the neighborhood.
The Resurrection Project also works with Hoops in the Hood and other anti-violence peace coalitions engages youth in sporting tournaments to help promote peace and safety in our communities.
